Netherlands vs Argentina: Argentina prevails over the Netherlands in a penalty shootout after blowing a two-goal lead.

Netherlands vs Argentina: Lionel Messi scored one objective and helped one more before the Netherlands hit Argentina two times in the last 20 minutes, however, the Albiceleste endured an extra kick shootout to arrive at the elimination rounds of the 2022 World Cup on Friday.

Croatia, who stunned the world by defeating Brazil earlier on Friday, will now face Argentina in the first semifinal on Tuesday.

Messi dribbled through midfield with four orange shirts between him and the goal and three shading out Nahuel Molina, who scored the first goal. The goal came from almost nothing. It had no bearing at all. Molina could take it in stride and tuck it inside the far post after Messi slipped the ball through one line of defenders and back across one lane of traffic.

Messi got his objective at the punishment spot in the 73rd moment, making amends for his missed spot kick against Poland during the gathering stage. Argentina was in the semifinals at 2-0 with less than a quarter of an hour remaining, and Messi was just over three hours away from winning the World Cup.

Netherlands vs Argentina

Despite Messi’s brilliant attack, Argentina’s defense was suffocating and controlling (for a while), allowing just one shot in the first 82 minutes before a frantic final eight minutes that included a goal and long balls to substitute Wout Weghorst made the game very interesting. Also, Weghorst scored the first Dutch goal with a header after Steven Berghuis sent a fantastic cross into the box.

Teun Koopmeiners slipped a clever ball toward the penalty spot 10 minutes into stoppage time, with the entire world watching and waiting to see if he could get the ball over the wall and back under the crossbar. Weghorst collected the ball and swept it past Emiliano Martinez.

Netherlands vs Argentina

During the first two rounds of the shootout, Martinez made saves to deny Virgil van Dijk and Berghuis, giving Argentina a 3-1 lead after three rounds. Things got interesting when Enzo Fernandez missed his attempt in round no. 1. 4-3, but Lautaro Martinez scored by smashing the ball past Andries Noppert. Netherlands vs Argentina
